On April 3rd 2025 our UTC Mocs men’s basketball team won their first ever NIT tournament championship. It was a moment of pride for the team and the city alike, it’s not every day a midmarket city gets to hoist an end of season trophy outside of their conference tournaments.
It was a season of highs and lows for the Mocs that year. With a loss in the semifinals to Furman in the SoCon conference tournament, the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament went to Wofford. Despite the loss, those familiar with the team felt the talent was there to go on a winning streak at any time.
As is often the case with college basketball postseasons, the Mocs pulled off an improbable run. With nerve testing finishes and clutch shotmaking they were able to hoist the NIT championship trophy after defeating UC Irvine, representatives from the Big West Conference, 85-84 in Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

I figured it would be nice to pay them some respect, so the rest of this post will be an update on where the primary contributors, who are no longer on the team, are in 2026.

Honor Huff and Trey Bonham were two of the most critical players during the Mocs campaign. They were also linked together before they ever found themselves in Chattanooga. Prior to transferring to UTC, Huff and Bonham played basketball at the University of Florida.
Following their successful season in 2025 and with eligibility remaining, Huff is now a member of the West Virginia University basketball team where he is the leading scorer for the Mountaineers, averaging 15.8 ppg, similar to his 2025 mark with the Mocs where he led the team with 15.2 ppg.
Bonham, having graduated in 2025, now plays professional basketball overseas in Serbia for BK KVIS Pardubice. He’s found early success in the league as the top offensive contributor, averaging 15.3 points per game and 4.6 assists. He’d averaged 14.6 per game during his Mocs season.
Bash Wieland, a 6’6” guard for the Mocs last season who scored 13.9 per with the team, is still looking for his first European contract via the agency he’s signed with, Inception Sports.
Keeslar Garrison was the leading rebounder for the Mocs the championship year, grabbing 180 rebounds for the season; his playing status is currently unknown.
The leading scorer in the championship game against Irvine was forward Collin Mulholland, who had 19 in the team’s win. He was the only returning starter for the team in 2025-2026 but has had little playing time due to injury.
The 2024-2025 season will go down in team history as an all time success story, and the fans who followed enjoyed (for the most part) a thrilling ride to NIT championship glory. It didn’t hurt the SoCon reputation either. Thanks to the players above and the rest of the UTC Mocs for an unforgettable season.
